MEDICAL HOLD - BROKEN FEMUR
January 20, 2019
Great news, everyone!! Maya is out of surgery and in recovery. The Dr. was able to fix her broken femur and feels good about how the procedure went. They actually want her to go home TOMORROW so that she can start moving around a little bit on that leg and begin the healing process. Speaking of HOME... Maya has a great one waiting for her. Her new mom is ready for her and is committed to helping her along in recovery over the next 8 weeks or so.
Maya's surgery and post op care will be close to $4,000.00. If you'd like to make a donation towards Maya's care, we would be forever grateful and so appreciative, as our bank account has taken quite a hit and we have lots more boxers who need saving.
January 17, 2019 - MAYA - URGENT - BROKEN FEMUR
Today, we received an urgent call about a sweet boxer in need. This is Maya. She's 1.5 years old and has a femoral fracture. Poor sweet, Maya, is being kept comfortable but needed someone to take ownership of her so she could undergo surgery to repair her leg. That's where we come in. Maya is now an offical member of The Boxer Rescue!!! She is in Boston, at Angel Memorial, and will be prepped for surgery tomorrow.
We need a home for Maya to go to when she's released from the hospital, which could be Monday or Tuesday of next week. Maya will need a quiet place to recover and hopefully become part of a family! She's going to be on a limited exercise regimen for around 4 weeks and will have another round of xrays 8 weeks or so post surgery. Her home needs to not have a ton of stairs, as that will be very challenging for her to navigate. She is good with other dogs, but a home with NO OTHER DOGS would be best for her during recovery. NO CATS, please. The hospital staff adores her and says she's a love. Maya is crate trained and very well mannered.

Please note that Maya's follow up care doesn't have to take place in Boston. We will set her up at a vet close to wherever her new home is and have her records sent there from Angel.
It's going to cost our rescue upwards of $4,000.00 when all is said and done. If you'd like to help us with the cost of her surgery, please donate here http://www.theboxerrescue.org/tbri2_144.htm
We appreciate any amount you can give towards her operation and post op care.
We could not turn our back on her.... Her road to recovery has already started and we can't wait to see what her future has in store. Please help if you can and share her story.
Stay tuned for updates!!
