Bolt is doing well, he is recovering nicely from his recent neuter, just trying to keep him quite and calm, which for a pup is not easy! The procedure went well, no issues. Bolt is not a fan of the "cone", and spent a lot of time walking in circles and clearing off end tables until we all decided to take a nap on the sofa, which helped… who doesn’t like a good nap now and then. Bolt is a love bug and will be a wonderful addition to any family!
Bolt is
settling in to his foster home and had a busy weekend. On Saturday he had is first vet visit which included lots of tests and
vaccines. Bolt received a clean billof health! Sunday we met with our trainer to work on some commands in the back yard
now that the snow is gone. It was difficult to pay attention because the pile of leaves being raked up seem much more fun than
practicing my signs, but I did try hard to pay attention.
Bold really needs a fenced yard where he can run and jump and play.
Even after an exciting visit to the vet Bolt was very happy to run several laps in the yard when we returned home. Bolt still
does not appreciate kitty cats, but is getting better at paying attention and more easily redirected should they cross paths.
He is doing well with his two little foster brothers. Although he tries very hard to catch his Italian Greyhound friend, he
just can’t quite seem to get him. Bolt is doing pretty good with house training skills, but on a rare occasion he may have
an accident if I get to excited or nervous. Bolt can’t wait to get settled into his forever-home and will really benefit from
some dedicated time for training and exercise.
Bolt is doing really well with the two resident dogs in his
foster home. They play nicely and get along great. Bolt has also come a long way with his hand signals and knows
them all. He’s a fast learner. He definitely does not LIKE the cat so he needs to go to a home with no cats or small critters.
He is a playful puppy with a wonderful disposition and will be a great addition to a family. Bolt will definitely benefit from
having another dog in his forever home as we have noticed he watches what the other dogs in our home are doing all the time.
Meet Bolt. A one year old, DEAF, Boxer boy, that could have a mix of another breed in him as well, but he is sweet as sugar. Bolt is coming in to the program as his current owner's work scheduled has changed and he is being left home alone too long. Bolt gets along with dogs, cats, kids and every person he meets. Bolt knows some basic commands but is still working on those. He is fully crate trained, 95% house trained and loves to play. Bolt will need a little training with walking on a leash as he still tends to pull but he is still a puppy so with some patience and leash training, he should be fine. Bolt will make a great addition to any family. He will need a special home with a family that is willing to work with him, and give him the training that he will need.
Deaf Dogs: Deaf dogs make wonderful companions if you are willing to make an effort to live with them successfully. Most importantly, they need to be carefully supervised and managed on leash at all times or within a confined area. The deaf dog is not handicapped – They simply can’t hear. They do not know they are deaf. Typically, deaf dogs compensate for the lack of hearing sound by developing a stronger reliance on visual signals and on their sense of smell.
