Mugsie continues to do well and is healing nicely from his surgery.  We are weaning him off some medications now and getting him on a high quality food.  He is getting better on our walks and it's easier to re focus his attention when walking by distracting.  He's lost a few pounds and he has a few more to go, but he looks Fabulous!  He's been truly a wonderful boy and great with our children.  We just love him!

Mugsie is doing great and is such a love a bug.  He's lost a few pounds and is looking great.  He just had surgery ( mast cell removed) and they got clean margins, so we are are so happy for him!  He's recovering form the surgery and doing great.  We will be weaning Mugsie off medications he came to us on over the next few weeks and changing his food to a healthier diet for him.  Check back soon for updates as this gorgeous boy recovers in his foster home.

Mugsie has been with us now for just about 3 weeks and he's doing great and we just adore him.  He's lost about 6 pounds and he now seems to be getting much more active and loves going for walks. and being outside.   He gets lots of attention here and he is loving all of it.  He seems to get up at the same exact time every morning and we now have a routine which seems to be working.  The medication he is on is making him feel like he is very thirsty and hungry all the time and we are working on lowering the medication with hopes that it may change.  Mugsie has a little arthritis in his back left leg but the vet believes that with weight loss, it should help it.  His surgery to remove his tumor is set for next Friday and I'm eager to get it done and get him back home to recover.

Mugsie arrived at his foster home today and he is such a love bug!   He spent most of the day outdoors, going for long walks and galloping around in the yard.  He follows the little humans around everywhere because they are paying him all sorts of attention and he seems to be in Heaven!  Mugsie is a BIG boy and will need to shed a few pounds, so daily exercise will be needed for this handsome boy.   Check back soon as we get to know this love muffin a little better.

Mugsie is a 9 year old male that is coming into the program as he is being left home alone for too many hours during the day (10+).   He is very over weight (95 -100lbs) and will need a home where he can get daily walks and exercise.  He’s a bit nervous when meeting new people, but warms up quickly with boxer wiggles.  When meeting people he is respectful and calm, no jumping or craziness. He’s truly a big love bug!

Mugsie has lived with other boxers in the past… a female and a male.  He and the male “co-existed” but were never really good buddies.  He did better with the female.  Mugsie loves his humans and loves attention, so we feel he would do best as an only dog.    He currently live with cats and is okay with them, but he chases one of the cats when he passes by, so we will be placing him in a home without cats.  Mugsie has not been around children much, so will be looking to place him in a home with no children or older children.

Mugsie does have some leash aggression when walking towards other dogs, so his new home will need to work with him on redirecting his attention.   We   believe he just doesn’t know how to respond/act on leash.   Please check back for more updates as we secure a foster home for this handsome boy!
