Thor has shown himself to be quite smart and obeys basic commands like, sit, stay, come and down.  He's made himself right at home and seems quite happy.  He sleeps on his dog bed in my room and seems to love it. Thor loves to go for a couple of short walks a day and he's very comfortable while walking.  He seems a little stiff when he first gets up in the morning but after a few minutes, he shakes it off and shows no signs of pain or discomfort.  Thor will be seeing our surgeon a Tuffs in a few weeks to determine whether or not he will need the old injury (torn meniscus) repaired.  Check back soon as we get to know this handsome boy!

Meet Thor.  This handsome boy is currently at shelter where he was found as a stray.  He is believed to be around 7, but could be a little younger.  Thor has been limping a little, so X-ray’s were done and he has an old injury of a torn meniscus on his right rear leg.  Because the tissue is so thick they feel a specialist should do the surgery.  Thor would need a 12 week recovery time, followed by physical Therapy.

As Thor was picked up as a stray, we know nothing about him.  We do know that he walks well on leash but does not really seem to know any basic commands.  He is really relaxed and kind of aloof until he warms up to you.  He doesn’t seemed interested in much; not your typical Boxer.  This could also be that he is stressed in the shelter environment.    We have been told that he has growled at kids and barked a lot at male dogs.  Thor will need a quieter home with no kids and as the only dog, or a home that has a submissive female.  He will also need a home that is willing to see him through his surgery, so that he can comfortably recover and start physical Therapy.  As we believe he has had no formal obedience training, we would like to see his new family attend a basic obedience class with him once he has fully recovered from his surgery.   We are in URGENT need of a foster home that can help see Thor through his surgery.    Please consider opening your heart and home to this handsome boy.
