Nessie

October 7, 2012

Nessie has made a successful transition to her new home.  She loves the new attention that she gets from her owners and their current puggle.  She goes on at least one long walk every day either at the park or around the neighborhood.  She loves her new surroundings in the city of Boston.  When she's at home, she's usually running around the house playing with her puggle friend or snuggling on the couch with her owners.  She enjoys the hugs and kisses from every family member.  Since there is so much to do and love, she finds herself napping or sleeping in her crate in order to relax and regain energy.

Nessie is very loveable.  She has been to doggie day care a few times and she has played and gotten along wonderfully with many dogs there.   She does tend to avoid things sometimes and she seems a little under socialized.  This is not surprising, as her family was in the military and lived on a base, so she probably didn’t meet too many people or dogs.   She does have a tendency to guard toys sometimes and it can be difficult to take them away.  She won’t growl, she’ll just avoid, take the toy and walk away, so her new family will need to work with her on this.  She has had NO formal obedience training, so her new family MUST be willing to attend a class with her.  She loves to walk and walks nicely on leash.  She's not a fan at all of nail trimming and will give a low growl, so again, her new family will need to work with her on this.  All and all, Nessie is a loveable little Boxer girl, that just needs a family that is willing to work with her positively and to build up her confidence level.

Meet Nessie!  Nessie is a gorgeous 2 year old fawn female that is coming into the program this week, as her current owners are in the military and need to relocate out of the country.  Nessie grew up with a male dog in her home, so we are looking to place her with a canine companion.  She is a very sweet girl with high energy.  She is house broken and crate trained.  She has lived with children 6 and 9 years old and is wonderful with them and around other children.  Because of her high energy, we will be looking to place her with older children, or no children.    Nessie is use to a fenced in yard as that is where she burned most of her energy off.  She has not been walked much, so she needs to be trained on loose leash walking.  She has not had formal obedience training, so her new home will need to enroll her in a 6-8 week basic obedience class as well.  We are looking for an active home for Nessie, one that will help her burn off some of that energy by walking, hiking, and playing with her new canine companion.   Please check back for updated as we get to know this beautiful girl in her foster home.
