Aries

March 27, 2012

Meet Aries!  Aries is a Gorgeous 3 year old brindle Male who has had a “ruff” past. Aries has only been with his current home for approximately 5 months.  We were told that his original owners gave him up as they were moving overseas. Aries is fearful when meeting new people, so slow introductions and proper “positive” introduction are needed when meeting him. He is a dog that needs his “space” until he feels comfortable.    We believe that he might have had a bit of a ruff past with his original owners, but once he feels comfortable and safe, he is fine.  Aries is a dog that will need a strong leader and one that will use “positive” training methods with him, so that he can gain his self confidence back and learn to trust people again.   Aries will thrive in a calmer environment and he is a very smart boy, so given the proper leadership and training, he will be a joy to work with and will make a wonderful companion.   Aries also shows signs of separation anxiety in his current home, so he will need to be placed in a home where someone is home more often than not and someone that is willing to work with him on separation anxiety and proper crate training.  We are told he is okay if confined in an area, that he has not been destructive, but we believe that proper crate training will benefit Aries, so that he has a place to retreat too where he feels comfortable and safe.    Aries does get along with other dogs and seems to be more on the submissive side with other dogs. We are unsure if he will get along with cats, so we will not be placing him in a home with cats.  He will do best in a home without children, or “older” children 12+.   Aries new home must be willing to take him to training or to hire a trainer that will implement a positive training plan to help him and his new home overcome his fearfulness when meeting people.  Please check back soon for updates as we secure a foster home for this handsome boy!
