It's hard to believe LOLA (lots of love for al) has only been here a few days.....seems like there was absolutely no adjustmentprocess for her...and its hard to remember life without her, she is wonderful in so many ways!  All the boxer traits you hope for and more...not stubborn, perfectly trainable, she has learned to walk in a perfect heel, as long as we are in a straight line and she has brought  the joy into our lives we were missing since we lost our last girl.  We are so very grateful we found you guys and believe me when I say,  we are a very happy family now!

Hi, It’s Lola again! My foster mom wanted me to give you an update on how I am doing.  I am  a very playful, happy and confident girl and the humans I live with tell me I’m an absolute joy!  I am completely trustworthy with the run of the house, and will not be destructive. I love to cuddle up on the bed during the day and sleep and when the humans come home I am full of wiggles and kisses.  I get a break around lunch or so which works out great for some play and potty time. I am told that I have the softest hair and skin and I love affection!  Apparently I am a little chunky, but have lost a few lbs as the humans have put me on a great diet and I get a lot of running and play time.  I like small treats but I’m not obsessed with food, as I would really like to get my girly figure back and thinking that bikini season will be just around the corner!

As far as socializing and adventures, I have been with two other dogs (my foster brother and the another older female dog), and we seemed to get along fine.  I’ve taken strolls in the woods and met a few other dogs (including a puppy!), but at this time, I need to be on the anti-pull harness for now. I have not met many dogs just yet (just passing by on the trail in the woods) as I am still getting comfortable with my foster brother and new people. I think I am a little unsure and maybe a bit nervous when approached by other dogs as I have not met many, so I feel they need to know upfront that I   can take care of myself, if they try anything funny!  I was testing the waters and tried to boss my foster brother around a few times and he was not happy about that!  He did get mad at me and corrected me, so I cowered and backed off, I think I just truly need a bit more socialization so I know the proper behavior around other dogs. I am pretty sure the more good experiences I have with  other dogs, the better I will be!

I ride wonderful in the car, no pacing, no crying, just love to plop down and sleep or sit up tall right on bum and look out the window.  I am perfect company and am very content in the car and at home as well. I am very gentle and careful with people - a little lady, I am!  I do need reassurance that humans and other dogs are going to be kind to me.  I have good manners too! if you tell me no, I listen and respect whatever you tell me.  You don't need to raise your voice or use force with me, as I am a very good listener.  I know the commands sit, give paw, lay down, off and can even "TALK" a little if you talk back to me!   When someone asks me to do something, I am not stubborn at all!  If you adopt me I promise you will be happy you did...my foster parents would tell you that I am a SWEETHEART and have lots of love to share!

So I had a very difficult week...but things are turning around!  My Mom got sick and couldn't take care of me anymore and there was no one else to take me.  I was so sad to lose my home and my Mom! A nice man called the Animal Control Officer , who has a big heart took me in because it was too cold at the shelter for me to be outside.  (I don't have too much hair you know and I was freezing!)....he was awful good to me and then he found The Boxer Rescue.  I knew I'd be ok once I met that lady and then met my foster Mom.  I also have a foster brother, who was just adopted by The Boxer Rescue!  I had my first vet appointment and was scared with everyone touching me, but they said I did great!  Turns out I am a healthy girl!!!  Everyone was so glad.  After some encouragement (I was scared and my Mom had to be in the tub with me...but I did it!)...I got a nice warm bath that smelled like mangos that night....I felt so great!  My foster Mom and Dad said my hair is SO soft they cant stop patting me.... I love to have lots of affection!

I really need to have a family that gives me lots of attention....I am a happy girl despite all I've been through.  I'd probably be best in a one dog household - I tend to compete with my foster brother Chey and we have had a few scuffles....not to say I shouldn't have dog pals and outings mind you! I need that! I love to play outside - chase snowballs, love that jolleyball too....we have to take turns though!  I am slowly getting used to being around other dogs....not too much just yet.  I pull on the leash but do great with the gentle leader....I need to keep going on walks to get used to it....I have no idea what I'm supposed to do just yet and just so happy to be out!   I have been told I am an EXCELLENT rider in the car....I'm glad people think so because I just love rides!   I am well behaved in the house too.  I can be trusted and I don't get into trouble.  I am SUPER cuddly and would love to be able to nap on a nice couch or bed with you....please!?  I have been told I will make a great family member to one lucky family!  :)

Meet Lola!  This beautiful girl is coming into the program as her family was unable to care for her anymore. She is approximately 2 years old and is a very sweet girl.  She knows her basic commands, sit, down, stay and is full of boxer wiggles and kisses.  Lola  has been around other dogs and is currently living with a foster brother.  She does seem to be a slightly dominant female, but also seems to take correction well.  We have no history with her and small children or cats, so we will be looking to place her in a home with older kids and no cats.  Lola is a bit over weight, so we will be getting her on a good diet and exercise program,  as she did not get a lot of exercise in her previous home.   She is a puller on leash, so she will need to be worked with on leash training and walking.   Lola is crate trained, but seems to do just fine outside the crate (free roam) as well.  Please check back soon for more updates as we get to know her better in her foster home.
