Tonka is adjusting well here in sunny Florida, he enjoys laying in the sun and soaking it up. He is very affectionate with people and loves to give kisses and hugs. He is working on learning how to accept and love his new brother Kona. He is also learning a couple of manners and how to be a polite young man. Tonka loves his daily walks, even though he has free roam of the house and back yard he gets very tickled the minute we get the leash out. He walks well on a leash, and enjoys the new sights and smells of a different path.

We work daily on training drills and he proves to be very intelligent. He is very strong and beautiful. Tonka is learning a new way of life here and seems to be very happy. He loves chewing on bones but his favorite is a peanut butter filled Kong that he gets daily. He will drool pools of drool watching me get his kong ready.

Since we have only had Tonka 9 days we are all still learning new things everyday, we will continue to train and work with Tonka while giving him unconditional love. He will be going to the beach in the next few weeks, maybe for his first time, we cannot wait to see him enjoy the water.

Fatboy walks excellent on leash. Fatboy excels with patience, positive reinforcement and praise. Fatboy has no food aggression. Fatboy is not interested in toys at this time although a Kong filled with a little peanut butter makes him happy. Fatboy is fine free roam not destructive, however he does enjoy some down time in his crate. Fatboy sleeps alot , he is a very mellow boxer – happy to just know he is loved and safe. Fatboy would do well as an only dog.  Fatboy’s favorite new game is SIT/WAIT. Fatboy will sit and wait for food, going in/out doors and he is a very fast learner. He truly is eager to please. In addition to verbal commands, Fatboy is learning sign. Fatboy knows sit, wait, crate, paw, etc.,

Fatboy currently resides with two indoor/outdoor cats. Fatboy will chase cats and anything else that moves if given the opportunity. Fatboy might possibly be able to exist with cats, but he’d be happier without them.

Fatboy has shown some displaced aggression towards other dogs. If startled, or nervous, he will tend to snap at another dog, so he will need a savvy dog owner to work with him on this issue with reading body language, distracting him and correcting him.   He has also shown some leash aggression while walking, so his new family will need to work with him on leash walking.

Fat Boy is a sweetheart and get's along with other dogs, but he has shown signs of displaced agression towards other dogs.  He will need a strong leader to work with him to refocus his attention.  Fat boy is a little intimidated by loud noises inside and outside of the house.  He doesn't like to go into his crate but once he is in he is well behaved, so his foster mom will be working with him on positive crate training methods.  Please check back soon as we get to know this handsome boy a little better.
