When we first took in Gunner, we were a little concerned not only about how he would adjust to living with our family, but also about how we would handle a new dog. Our previous boxer, Sara Jane, passed away almost a year ago. Would it be difficult getting to know a new dog? Well, not even a day had gone by of Gunner living with our family that we got the answers to those questions. Gunner seemed to feel at home with us right off the bat - and not even a day had gone by before he was a part of our family. Gunner is such a special dog - so loving and playful. He has connected with everyone in our family, and we already can't imagine not having him here with us. Gunner is a wonderful addition to our family that has made our home even more special.

Gunner arrived at his foster home today.  What a happy boy!  Gunner is very sweet and loves to play.  Please check back soon for more updates as  Gunner settles into his foster home and we get to know this boy a little better.

This is Gunner, a very lovable, gorgeous male Brindle Boxer. Gunner just turned 3 in February and he is a very friendly boy who’s owner is surrendering him due to not having enough time for him. He is a little on the hyper side, and craves attention both typical for a young Boxer. He has displayed some destructive behavior at home but we believe that is probably due to boredom and the long hours he is left alone in the home.  Gunner is good with other dogs and children.   Because of his energy, we would like to place gunner with children that are older (7+)

Gunner in not a fan of the crate and has tried to hurt himself trying to get out. He is currently gated in the kitchen area when his owner is not home, and he has knocked items off the hutch onto the floor, but he does not have accidents or chew the woodwork or furniture. He is great with other dogs and would benefit from another canine companion to help burn off some of that energy. He knows his basic commands (sit, down, stay & come) but he needs some basic manner skills, as he is very active and loves to jump on people. When walking Gunner, he will pull a little at first but will then calm down.  We are looking to place gunner in a home where someone is home more often than not. Gunner needs a lot of exercise, a home that understands the needs and activity level of a young boxer and his home will need to work with him on social skills and training.  Gunner will need a home with a fenced in yard    ( 4ft or higher) or a family that is active and can give Gunner the walks or runs he will need to burn off his energy.   Please check back soon for updates as we secure a foster home for this handsome boy!
