Meet Buddy!  Buddy is a handsome 9 year old Brindle boy that could possibly have a mix of another breed in him.  We have been told he is all Boxer, but we are not 100% sure.   Buddy’s story is very sad.  He was taken from his home by the animal control officer due to a very neglectful situation.  He is currently at a rescue facility and has been there for approximately 9 months.  He came to them extremely thin.  It took a few months for him to gain some weight back, but he looks wonderful now.  He has lived with a smaller size female dog, cats and  older children (12+).    Buddy knows his basic commands and is crate trained, but he would be perfectly fine with free roam of the house as well.    He seems to be okay around most dogs, but has gotten into scuffles with some male dogs off leash and we feel he would do best as an only dog.  Buddy has lived with cats in the past, but because it has been a very long time, we are unsure how he would be with them now.   He is a BIG SWEETHEART and a very mellow dog.  Overall, he seems like happy boy and much younger than 9!     We would love to see Buddy in a home where someone is home more often than not so that he can spend his golden years getting the love and attention he so deserves.    If you are looking for a great companion to walk with, snuggle on the couch with, or just hang out with, Buddy is your boy!    We are currently looking for a foster home for buddy or a possible foster to adopt for buddy.  If you are interested in this handsome boy, please contact us at info@theboxerrescue.org

Meet Brock!  Brock is a 9.5 year old Male Fawn Boxer who came to us from a Craigslist posting. His original owners had shipped him from Japan when he was just a puppy *papers to show* and kept him until he was 9. He had been a 24/7 outside dog with his partner in crime a Jack Russell Terrier), but was now jumping fences and they decided they did not want to keep him anymore - he was headed to the shelter.

Brock has been with us for 6 months. Since then, he was neutered, got current on his shots (up to date until 2013), current with heartworm and flea/tick. He is crate trained, house trained, leashed trained. He can be a counter surfer, so we gate the kitchen when not at home. He is neither toy nor food aggressive with us or our resident Boxer.

Brock had his teeth cleaned and a chest x-ray at the end of October; he was given a clean bill of health. Since Brock does have gum overgrowth we wanted to have this checked and look for any kidney issues due to his age. The vet said he was healthy and saw no issues with either his gums or kidneys. He can eat just fine and the overgrowth is doing him no harm at this time.

Brock lives with our female boxer, but they don’t really interact. Brock loves to be around his people more than anything in the world. He does well with children and most small or medium dogs. His BFFs are Pip and Scout (the beagle brothers). He would also love to go it alone where he can hog all of the human attention and not have to compete with other dogs his size. He would do fine in an apartment or a single family home.

Brock likes to spend his time going for car rides, taking walks, looking out the window, sleeping, and of course eating! He has entered into the “spoiled” life with ease. He loves that he does not have to spend his days/nights outside; he loves his warm bed and now is finding he loves our bed too!

Brock is a big love muffin and we are looking for the "perfect furever home".
